Poland’s vibrant capital, Warsaw, is a city steeped in history and cultural richness. A harmonious blend of Gothic, Baroque, and neoclassical styles is encompassed in its architecture, reflecting the city’s tumultuous past. Reconstructed after the devastation of World War II, Warsaw is a treasure trove of charming alleys, colorful buildings, and picturesque squares, with the Vistula River cutting through.
Throughout Warsaw’s eclectic streets, the vestiges of the old and the elegance of the new combine, and the city’s burgeoning hotel scene capture this contrast beautifully.
Its accommodations range from quaint boutique townhouses to unique five-star abodes. From my many trips to Warsaw, Poland I have handpicked my favorite cool and unusual hotels in this bustling metropolis (in no particular order)…

This newly built hotel, a block from the Palace of Culture and Science, is well located in a business area close to the Warsaw Main train station.
The area doesn’t quite hold the glamour of the Śródmieście district a couple of hundred metres away, but there are still plenty of bars and restaurants and tram stops right outside to whisk you around Warsaw. NYX Hotel is designed in a colourful, cheeky style, with plenty of faux fur patterns and bold colours.
Even the smallest of rooms is thoughtfully furnished to create a vibrant, cheerful space and rooms on the higher floors have magnificent views across the city. Hotel Indigo Warsaw Nowy Świat, an IHG Hotel – Śródmieście

An unerring blend of contemporary design and architectural heritage, Hotel Indigo subscribes to the kind of understated luxury that appeals to the 21st-century jetsetter.
Situated at the end of one of Warsaw’s most historic avenues, its ornamental exteriors date from 1903 and greeted me with a sense of authentic opulence upon arrival. A palatial inner courtyard is centred around a cascading chandelier and invites guests to soak up the property’s charm majestically.
I was amazed by the delightful corridors, which are lined with contemporary art pointing to Warsaw’s illustrious history. I had an awesome night at the on-site restaurant Florentin, which serves a range of Middle Eastern dishes with some innovative modern touches.

Arche Hotel Geologiczna – Włochy

This 6-storey building is situated in the business district of Warsaw, with the city center reachable within 20 minutes. It is decorated in a modern industrial style in shades of grey, white, and elements of gold and navy blue.
I thought this color scheme created a friendly and pleasant atmosphere and set the scene for a stay rooted in elegance. Upon entrance, I was immediately put at ease by the scent of fresh herbs and flowers, and the brightly lit lobby was dressed in a boutique flair.
The two restaurants add a modern twist to traditional cuisine, and in the summer months, you can dine on the terrace with beautiful views across the city.

V Hotel Warsaw – Wawer

Hospitality takes on a completely new meaning at V Hotel, where the high class of the business world is combined with the peace and seclusion of a residential abode.
The hotel is located in the eastern green part of Warsaw, next to the Vistula River and the Siekierkowski Bridge. The newly opened salt cave offers a spa experience like no other and was the source of moments of pure relaxation for me during my visit.
There is also a graceful outdoor area on-site, where flower decorations, fairy-tale décor, and a bespoke service combine to exude a peaceful atmosphere. The in-house restaurant is a place where you will discover international cuisine with a unique taste, relying only on fresh, natural products.

Nobu Hotel Warsaw – Śródmieście

Split between a century-old Art Deco heritage building and a sleek, new contemporary wing, Nobu Hotel lies in the midst of a vibrant food scene, a short stroll from the Old Town.
The bygone elegance of brass trimmings and stained glass has married blissfully with the urban aesthetic, creating an atmosphere that echoes both luxury and stylishness. I stayed in the old building, and my room was adorned with polished parquet floors, while the rooms in the new wing are a nod to a Japanese boutique style, where concrete walls meet wooden floors.
While the surrounding area boasts many exceptional restaurants, the food in the on-site Nobu Café is exemplary and is certainly not to be missed!
Pros
Unique stylish sleek vibrant hotel
On-site dining cafe and bar
Wellness and fitness center
Cons
No on-site parking
No swimming pool
Restaurant closes early
Jess Hotel & Spa Warsaw Old Town – Śródmieście

Set in a historic residence building, this lavish boutique stands on one of Warsaw’s most famous and representative streets in the heart of the Old Town.
It offers 48 fully renovated rooms and suites, each fusing traditional and contemporary in an innovative way. A standout offering for me was the spa, which offers many luxury facilities designed to soothe the soul.
My favorite feature was the tropical experience shower, which came with a fully adjustable ambient lighting system. Throughout the property, the functional guestrooms, opulent restaurants, and cosy communal spaces all exude a refined sense of elegance and homely comforts.

Lavish and contemporary hotel
On-site dining restaurant

Hotel Warszawa in the Prudential Building – Śródmieście

Here, we have one of the most important representatives of Polish architecture. Towering majestically above the capital, Hotel Warszawa’s exteriors open up to dazzling interiors, where 21st-century luxury has been skilfully inserted into an authentic slice of history.
I thought the hotel’s character shone beautifully through the hand-crafted décor and the multitude of different marbles that embellish the property.
A standout feature was the sleek heated swimming pool, which is surrounded by boldly colored marble walls, and joins onto a well-equipped gym and a spa. I also found food to be a triumph here, from the homemade breakfasts to the signature lunches and the lavish dinners.
Pros
Historic and lavish hotel
2 restaurants and a bar on-site
Swimming pool and spa
Cons
Some noise from events
Parking is extra
Limited breakfast menu
H15 Boutique Hotel – Śródmieście

On the almost French-feeling cobbled street of Poznańska sits the elegant H15 Boutique Hotel, surrounded by super-cool bars and restaurants.
The building, with its grand external stone façade, was constructed as a private home at the end of the 19th century. After the Great War, it became a Soviet Embassy and was later occupied as offices of the Wehrmacht during WW2 – which saved it from destruction.
It now houses a fabulously styled interior mix of elegance, quirk, and luxury without frump or frippery and with many surviving features from its turbulent history.
From standard rooms to great suites, every part is individual, unique, and special and has dollops of wow! There’s a large spa and gym, some truly impressive meeting rooms, and a really, really good restaurant. H15 Boutique Hotel is probably one of the loveliest hotels in Warsaw.
Pros
Upscale and contemporary hotel
Award-winning restaurant
Fitness and spa centre
Impressive meeting or event spaces
Cons
Limited breakfast menu
Thin walls
Lack of storage space in rooms
Teatro Hotel – Śródmieście

Set in a historic, pre-war tenement house, Teatro Hotel is a luxurious and comfortable boutique that combines the history of Warsaw with a modern approach to recreation.
The 18 rooms come with a charming character, and are each assigned to a unique theatre artist, with a stunning portrait as one of the main elements of the decor.
The rest of the property is also decorated with a rich collection of theatre posters, which give the monochromatic, raw brick-draped spaces a quirky appeal. One of my favourite features was the business zone, which is set in the historic cellar. Here, discreet lighting and modern furniture combine to create a unique atmosphere to combine work with leisure.
Pros
Upscale and elegant boutique
On-site restaurant
Unique business zones
Cons
Some rooms are small
Noise from the outside
Moxy Warsaw – Praga-Północ

Across the Śląsko-Dąbrowski Bridge over the Vistula River, from the old center of Warsaw, is the Praga district with its wide boulevards and lovely public parks.
Moxy Warsaw Praga is in a smart modern low-rise block on the reimagined complex of a 19th-century Polish vodka distillery, around 15 minutes by tram from the Old Town yet just a short stroll from the many charming bars and restaurants of Praga-Północ.
The rooms are bright, sharply styled, and beautifully designed in a comfortable, crisp, contemporary style, with Moxy’s trademark quirky bits adding warmth and color. The hotel’s cheerful public spaces share the same fun themes with quiet corners for when you’re not in the mood to be groovy.
The bright and open hotel lobby layout is paired with contemporary and industrial furniture, a state-of-the-art video wall, a 24/7 grab-and-go section offering a wide selection of snacks and drinks and a good Moxy-style bar.
Pros
Funky and Instagrammable accommodation
On-site restaurant
Lively 24/7 Moxy bar
Proximity to attractions
Cons
Limited breakfast menu
Drinks are pricey
No wardrobe in guest rooms
Chopin Boutique – Śródmieście

I was amazed to find a handful of pianos around this property. This is one of many ways in which this boutique hotel reflects the spirit of the illustrious composer Chopin, and it truly sets the tone for a classic stay in the heart of the city.
Each room is unique, and no two are the same size. They are all, however, bright and decorated with warm colors and are clad in soft wooden hues.
The on-site, plant-lined terrace is one of the city’s most remarkable hangout spots and invites you to gaze out over Warsaw’s gleaming rooftops in the evening, soundtracked by delicate piano music.
Pros
Bright and classic environment
Panoramic rooftop terrace views
Live piano concerts
Central location very near famous Nowy Świat Street
Cons
Weak soundproofing
No air conditioning
Castle Inn – Śródmieście

At possibly the finest location in Warsaw, within the old castle walls and just yards from the Royal Castle itself, is the small Castle Inn.
Internally styled in a hard-to-define quirky, hotch-potch of traditional and modern Polish designs, creating twenty-two unique, colorful, themed guest rooms – which could almost be described as a boutique.
There’s a reception and shared lounge in shades of very pink and a small breakfast room should you choose to eat on site. It’s an old building, so there are plenty of stairs and no elevator, and it’s located in the heart of the Old Town, so car parking is impossible.
But, should neither of these bother you, Castle Inn is extremely well placed (and well priced) for a few nights in the beautiful old medieval quarter of Warsaw with its narrow, cobbled streets, excellent restaurants, bars, cafés, shops, galleries, and amazing architecture.
Pros
Themed elegant and charming boutique
Historic Polish design with modern amenities
Proximity to attractions
Cons
Steep stairs and no lift
Limited bathroom amenities
